Frequently Asked Questions
Painful swelling of the breasts due to milk production. Often a cause of early discontinuation of breastfeeding due to pain and inability of baby to latch on. May occur again during the weaning period making weaning painful and difficult.
Initial engorgement: Apply 1-2 times per day as needed for the first 2 days then as needed.
Weaning: Apply when a feeding is dropped or about 4-6 applications per day. May use as many times per day as you like for comfort. Do not pump, breastfeed, or hand express while using Cabocreme. Over-producers may take longer to stop lactating but Cabocreme will decrease risk of engorgement and will decrease or stop milk production.
To suppress lactation: Apply 6 times per day or more. Start on day of delivery and lactation will not occur.
Tail of Spence (extra breast tissue under arms): Apply under arms only and continue to breastfeed as usual. Apply as often as needed for relief just to the underarm area.
Lingering lactation: Apply 6 or more times per day after weaning to dry up annoying post breastfeeding leakage.

No, just apply to the breasts, not the nipples.
If you are weaning, only pump to relieve severe pressure. Pumping encourages milk production. We recommend using Extra Strength CaboCréme as often as needed to wean and avoid engorgement.
As often as you need it keeping in mind the more you use the better it works to decrease milk production and swelling.
